What Are We All About?

Lux Youth is about the journey every person is on, the life questions that need to be grappled with, and about providing a safe environment for Middle School and High School Aged students to relax, have fun, learn life skills, and grow together. We want our students to know they belong and are loved even if it's their first time visiting. Lux Youth is more than a Wednesday club and Sunday school; we're becoming a life-giving community who's getting to know God, growing in character, and maturing as people who's roots are growing more deeply rooted in God every day. We're more than an important up-and-coming generation. We are an essential part of the Church Body, now... today!

David Kinnaman, President of the Barna Group (https://www.barna.org/), a group which conducts loads of unbiased research, issued a challenge in his book You Lost Me: Why Young Christians Are Leaving Church... And Rethinking Faith. He said, "...many in the next generation find it difficult to move beyond being consumers of information to become people of wisdom. For example, many young Christians enjoy the words and works of Jesus (information) but do not know Him as Lord and God (wisdom). They read and respect the Bible (information) but they do not perceive that it's words lay claim to their obedience (wisdom)." [pg. 31]  This is the evidence and the challenge we're then left with. John 17:3 says, "eternal life is knowing the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom [He] sent." (Charles' paraphrase) Experiential knowledge is what we're after, and we aren't afraid of questions, doubts, or issues along the way.
How Do We Do It?

Small Groups: SGs are a way of engaging students in a lower-pressure setting which provides for social needs, the ability to get closer to a few people, also providing accountability and fostering better discussions about the Faith and Life.

Teaching: Charles and Chelsea Sandusky are partners in life and ministry who bring a wealth of experience, even in their young age. They desire to equip students to become better thinkers, researchers, servants, and engaged Christians who have a passion for Jesus.

Service Projects: Serving others is a great way to connect with the community and experience the thrill of true joy and generosity. Come experience the Father's heart as we serve.

Fun Events: God's the inventor of fun, not it's enemy! Who told you fun isn't in the Bible?

Hanging Out: Life is better when we share it. It sharpens us and makes us better. Great things happen when people get on the same page!
